It was February 2015 and myself and a small group of amazing suppliers in Derbyshire had just finished collaborating on a styled shoot at the West Mill – then still very much a building site and several months from completion. I was out in Australia photographing two weddings when I receive a lovely call from Heather, enthusiastically describing her peaky-blinders inspired wedding to Chris at the West Mill. Not only did it sound marvellous, Heather & Chris had booked the entire creative team from the shoot, including my wonderful friends over at Timeless Couture, Tineke Floral, Darby & Joan, and Yummy Little Cakes.

Just a month later, and back in a wet and windy Derby town centre we met for their engagement shoot. Then a year and a bit later, and in the presence of their daughter Mia, they tied the knot. Heather’s father Chris is paraplegic and they were both determined that he was to walk his daughter down the aisle. Through the loan of an incredible Robo-suit by Rex Bionics, and with the aid of a custom-built walkway by the team at the West Mill, Chris was able to achieve the seemingly impossible whilst the rest of us struggled to contain our emotions.

The rest of the day was a blur of tears (mainly of laughter), pink flamingoes, gold pineapples, cake and one of the finest knees up I’ve been witness too.

So if you haven’t already poured yourself a drink and pulled up a chair please do so and enjoy just a fraction of the images from an incredible day. Then if you’d like to see more then please feel free check out a wonderful write up by the kind people over at Save the Date and a fantastic video by one of Derbyshire’s finest videographers, Lara Elliot.
