OK so they’ve only gone and pulled it off and The West Mill at Darley Abbey is now officially open! Four floors of awesome, slap bang on the Derwent river.

The development of the West Mill from a Grade disused former cotton mill into a spectacular, exclusive use, wedding venue with which I’ve been involved for some time.

On the weekend of the 25th of July 2015 the venue finally opened its doors and oh my it is incredible. Think Industrial Chic, Soho House, beautiful rustic features and a lot of attention to detail.

Set in grounds following the bend in the river Derwent, each of the four floors has its own purpose. The Cotton Quarter on the top floor is reserved for ceremonies. It even has its own grand piano and a separate bridal annex for brides to get some time out. The third is exclusively set up for the wedding breakfast. The Spinning Room on the second floor is dedicated to fun and partying with huge leather sitting booths and an incredible bar. Then the ground floor is a large multi-function space for an indoor reception, parties, or even a photobooth.

Be sure to check out the West Mill at Darley Abbey’s website. If the pictures look familiar, that’s they’re a combination of my images from the opening launch and from January’s Styled Shoot.

I’m excited to say that I’m lucky that several brides & grooms have already booked me for weddings over the next 12 months – I can’t wait.

A huge congratulations to the owners, Andrew and Chrissie, and the staff and contractors who have dedicated their lives and energy to the project over the last couple of years.
