I’ve had the pleasure of photographing the West Mill in Derby on many occasions: from a character-filled shell of a building with enormous potential in 2014 to the stunning venue it is today. Over time it’s meant I’ve developed a real feel for how the venue changes in character from winter through spring, summer and autumn, and with the décor and unique vibe of each of the couples I photograph.

And so it was that I found myself back at the West Mill on a perfect spring day and surrounded by daffodils for the wedding of the lovely Lizzie & Tim. They’re both from cricket-mad families and with a large but tight-knit group of friends and family it made for a fantastic atmosphere.

The day was full of DIY touches and contributions from family & friends: from the flowers prepared by a family friend and placed in home-decorated milk bottles to Lizzie’s sister in law singing a beautiful acoustic version of ‘It Must Be Love’ by Madness during the ceremony.
