Being asked to be a destination wedding photographer for an overseas wedding is a great honour. I’m well aware that it takes a lot of trust and faith, not only in my ability to deliver a set of memorable photos, but to fit in well with my couples and their favourite people.

For their destination wedding, Hannah & Richie chose Quinta de D. Carlos, an hour’s drive north of Lisbon. It’s a beautiful, peaceful place set amongst the vineyards with the loveliest owners. Aside from it’s picturesque tiled interiors, it has a dramatic sunken garden for a ceremony space, long terrace for the reception with views across the vineyards, and then, for the icing on the cake, a stunning courtyard illuminated by hundreds of festoon lights. There is even a tunnel that runs the full length of the venue that was not only handy for smuggling couples around the venue, but makes for some great pictures too!

Despite some luggage getting lost in transit and the wedding coinciding with the England vs Sweden World Cup quarter final everything came together nicely – with both the airline and England coming through with time to spare, leaving Richie, Hannah and their loved ones to enjoy their wedding to the fullest.

A special mention should also be made to the lovely Joana at Lemonade Events who made the entire weekend so much easier and fun from start to finish.
