Young children grow up very fast and it was with this in mind that Sally & Ryan approached me about photographing their 6 month old daughter at a special point in her life.
They live in an incredible spot in Southwark, right in the heart of London, and just a stone’s throw from the River Thames. As a result we were spoilt for backdrops for the shoot, and despite Amber not being too mobile, we were able to take in some of their favourite spots whilst stopping for a coffee or two.
I could write more about this lovely shoot, but instead I thought I’d leave it to the parents to describe our morning out:
“My husband, 6 month old daughter and I had a fantastic family photo shoot with Richard. Unlike the staged images often taken in family shoot situations, Richard kept it completely natural and we happily went about our day, with Richard catching those lovely moments that will remind us of this point in our daughters life. We are lucky enough to live in central London close to the river so had so many places we wanted photos taking, but Richard had done his homework and already scouted out locations he thought would work best from the list we gave him.
Richard made us all at ease and encouraged us to have a lovely day together, visiting the places we regularly go to and interact in the way we always do – he would do the hard bit of capturing the shots and would give any guidance (e.g. where to stop if he spotted a good photo opportunity) leaving us to go about our day together!
It was great fun and to be honest we barely though about the actual images at the time – it was a great moment when we received the link to the website (which was very easy to use) full of gorgeous shots!
