Despite being just 15 minutes from home, Ka Lai & Alex’s Chinese, Welsh and Scottish-infused wedding was my first visit to Nonsuch Mansion – a picturesque venue in South West London blessed with beautiful rooms filled with natural light.

A Monday wedding in November is a rare thing indeed but according to the Chinese calendar it was an auspicious date and Ka Lai & Alex were certainly blessed with some fantastic winter weather.

The day was split into two. The traditional Chinese portion featured traditional games run by Ka Lai’s sisters (though I’m not sure how traditional the leg waxing forfeit was…) and a tea ceremony. Part two then consisted of a ‘white-dress’ civil wedding ceremony, reception, meal and speeches.
