Recognition in the International Street Photography Awards (ISPA)
Richard Murgatroyd's image of a boy cartwheeling through the dust in Rajasthan has been commended in the International Street Photography Awards (ISPA)
The International Street Photography Awards (ISPAs) is a big deal in the world of street photography. Judged by a panel of experts, it is all about images that draw you in, tell a story, or pose a question.
My sequence of images was entitled “At Play” and taken in various spots of India from the cities of Delhi, Calcutta and Mumbai to dusty villages in Rajasthan. The competition was tough and whilst my series hasn’t been short-listed for a place in the final, one of my images has received a Commendation from the judges – an award given to the most outstanding individual images across all the submissions, including those of the finalists.
The image they chose shows a young boy performing cartwheels in the dust and was shot in the Bishnoi area of Rajasthan near Jodhpur.
An exhibition of the winning images in London is planned for later this Spring
