Corporate Annual Report Photographer London - Dogs Trust

Corporate annual review photography can be possibly one of the most challenging photographic assignments – trying to encapsulate the entire work, values and mission of a business or charity in just a few photographs.

It was an honour to be asked by the Dogs Trust to photograph their Annual Review and Annual Report & Accounts. In previous years the reports were often based on a comedic parody of publications like Hello magazine, with studio portraits of dogs complemented by a range of photographs and photographers.

For this report, head of PR & Publicity, Deana, along with the late CEO Adrian Burder, were keen to adopt a sophisticated fine-art approach using a documentary photography style with images almost exclusively taken by me.

Doing justice to the diverse range of valuable work done by the Dogs Trust was no small undertaking – requiring 7 shots across 5 locations in late November and December, with additional images sourced from commissions I’d undertaken in Dubrovnik, Bosnia, India and Malawi.

The brief was to take candid-style photographs emphasising the bond between humans and dog, the wide range of work and working environments in which they operate, and the love, energy and positive difference made by the Dogs Trust and its people.

Photography covered youth education work in an East London school, community work in Manchester’s inner-city, the Manchester and Basildon rehoming centres (including dog school and call centres), their Hope for Homeless Project, as well as relaxed lifestyle images of CEO Adrian Burder and Chairman Greame with their dogs.

Both reports featured a wrap-around image on both covers, and were were deliberately designed as complementary opposites – in terms of shading, colour palette and layout. A selection of spreads from these reports and some of the original images are included below!
